I use a 1 piece Hollister convex with a Adapt barrier ring. My stoma is text book perfect and hasn't noticably changed since surgery 3 mos. ago but I was getting a tiny bit of leakage causing some skin irritation with just the 1 piece flat that the hospital sent me home with. My WOC nurse came to the rescue and set me up with what I have now and it works perfect. I get 5-6 days between changes.
Having said that, I'd much rather use a Coloplast because it empties much easier. I tried it but my skin broke out in a rash just hours after putting on the coloplast so it's back to Hollister.
I can asure you that the process of determining the best ostomy products for you does take time and a trial and error formate. Be patient.....its part of the process but you would be well advised to make every attempt to find a WOC nurse you can work with. A good WOC nurse is a real treasure and for me a real skin saver.
