According to this study: http://ajcn.nutrition.org/content/30/2/151.full.pdf , if anything a resection of the terminal ileum (which is kiiiind of what's going on with j-pouch construction) would result in decreased total cholesterol.
Have you modified your diet to manage your output? It seems a lot of j-pouchers have to increase their intake of white carbs, which would result in an increase in cholesterol.
