So I'm using a great system of Coloplast Assura, precuts twopiece, lock and rolls

I also use sure seals, brava barrier strips and an adapt hollister belt for flange protection :)

i've only had one leak since coming out of the hospital, and that's because my silly nurse told me insane amounts of convexity wouldn't hurt -_-

Thing is it's like everytime i get gas build up and you know how it rises? i push it down to the bottom of my pouch so it doesn't get unsightly and annoying at the top, but when i have liquid stool it seems that it pushes just a little bit out, so when I do my next empty, my carefully cleaned tips and a little on where it rests has drops of stool on it! I'm wondering if there's a way around this? or do i immediately have to burp my pouch when it gets gassy? :/

I'm not sure whether this will help your problem or not, as I haven't had that specific issue. But I do use coloplast sensura bags, and one thing problem I have with them is that the little white circle of velcro that holds up the bottom part is very small and not very strong. I got a tip from someone in my in person support group to go to the hardware store and get some velcro, and put a piece on top of what comes with the coloplast. I do this regularly, and the bottom of the pouch stays rolled up (I end up wasting half the velcro though, because I only need the half with the hooks).

If this keeps the bottom of the pouch rolled up better, it might help with the leakage.

Also, you might try the sensura instead of the assura bags (I think with a two piece they are interchangeable). I use the sensura, but I did get a sample of the assura, and the sensura just seem like more advanced versions.

I did go to a world ostomy event and mention the problem with the little white velcro circle to the rep from coloplast.
50 years old, female. Sick for way too long with Crohn's (or possibly UC) Proctocolectomy and permanent ileostomy in Feb 2011. Surgery for lingering perineal wound Sept 2011. All healed up now. Healthier than I ever expected to be again...

One of the ostomy nurses I've visited recommended the black paper-clip binders as extra pouch closure protection. Seems like they would work, although I'm not sure how comfortable they would be!

Drug refractory UC
Colectomy with end ileostomy August 30th, 2012 - jpouch sometime
IBD related arthritis and peristomal pyoderm gangrenosome

Humira, finally off of steroids! Aiming to have Step 2 in August 2013.

Tried lots of drugs and diet, didn't work for me.
