As Crohnielass says, if it's an ileostomy, don't expect hard stools.
If your output is liquid or loose, there are way to help. The most obvious is changing your diet to include foods that thicken stool and eliminate the foods which cause loose stool. There are many food lists available, but if you need specifics, I can post a link.
Another option, which works regardless if your output can't be controlled with diet is to use gelling agents, which you put directly into your pouch and it thickens your output. You can get them in powder, sachets or capsules. Par-sorb, Convatec Diamonds, Gel-X are a few brands.
If your output is causing leaks because it's loose, try something like Eakin rings or even the Salts Dermacol product.
Good luck, and if you already haven't spoken with a stoma nurse, perhaps an appointment is in order.
