However, I will tell you... I couldn't believe how painful the j-pouch construction surgery was. I was talking to my mom today and she reminded me that I said verbatim a day or two after the surgery "I never imagined it would be this painful." I would say the first four days in the hospital after surgery #2 were the greatest pain I've ever had (although I don't have a lot to compare it to, just active UC, one blockage, and post-op pain from surgeries 1 and 3... which really don't compare!)
It sucks that the epidural didn't work for you. I had one as well, obviously it didn't do a GREAT job (see above) but it definitely helped.
Believe me, this too shall pass.
Have you been able to walk at all yet? Are your guts waking up?
