I was told prior to the op that the butt wound would be the slowest to heal. It was pretty uncomfortable for the 1st two months. After I had the stitches removed (3 weeks after op) I visited the Wound clinic twice a week for 4 weeks so that the wound could be monitored.
The wound nurses recommended a bath with a few drop of TeaTree oil & that I just splash the water on the wound to disinfect it. For rebuilding tissue so that he wound would heal, they recommended Cubitan, a protein/vitamin drink. I had a crazy appetite for it at the time, taking 4 bottles a day. Now I find it vey sweet but I guess my body knew what it needed at the time for recovery.
The wound did close completely after about 3 month but I took it easy (no cycling) for maybe 6 months further.
I wish you well with your recovery.
