It feels like an eternity while you are going through it, but in the wider scheme of things 5 days is nothing. You will get your appetite back. Provided you are not underweight, there is no immediate rush to eat: your body has fat reserves for a reason. Me, I had zero appetite at day 10 after my operation. On day 12, I felt ravenous for the first time - admittedly that was probably because I could finally choose what to eat rather than the hospital's dire food.
The intestinal spasms are extremely annoying and I'm getting a lot of them at the moment, especially after bathroom trips. But again, those will settle. Basically, your bowels have to re-learn their function again. It's a process which can't be hurried, unfortunately, but it will definitely happen. After a few weeks, things should be much better.
Dx Crohn's in summer of 2000. (Yay )
Tried and failed: 5-ASAs, Azathioprine, 6MP, Remicade, Methotrexate, Humira.
Diet didn't make any difference either.
Had surgery 2/13 - subtotal colectomy with end ileostomy. Currently on no meds and in remission. Also prone to depression and anxiety. Ask me anything >_>
