I wouldn't rush into more surgery- frankly, I think the WOCN knows a heckuva lot more about wound healing than the surgeons! At 6 months, I was still going to the Wound Center- the WOCN I worked with gave me this pink floss stuff, looked like fiberglass insulation- you put a tiny bit into the wound to keep the edges apart- something like, if the wound edges are touching, it signals your body to stop new skin growth, your body thinks it's "healed". After like 3 weeks of using it, boom! Closed right up. But yeah, I was thinking about it, & it was really a solid year before my rectum removal & closure was not tender, a bit sore, etc. If the hospital you had your surgery at has a Wound Center- go! Even for peace of mind, you know?
