I don't have any input on the pus as that has never happened to me.
As far as the hernias I think there is a certain risk for everyone but at the end of the day some people are just more prone than others and there is no rhyme or reason. My doctor said some people just get them no matter the precautions taken.
A woman in my ostomy group has had her ostomy for 30 years, gave birth to 2 children, multiple colds ect and has never had one. I can't remember if it was in here or not but someone else got a hernia with the first cold they got after surgery.
After surgery initially I constantly worried about
hernias. I think part of the reason is that side of my abs still felt so weak and every little twinge I panicked. I have to say it took a solid 4 months at least for that feeling to leave. I'm just shy of 6 months and just in the last few weeks I feel like my abs are fully healed and don't get weird twinges of pain.
How are you doing otherwise? Do you feel better overall since surgery?

Meds tried~mesalamines, imuran, 6mp, remicade, humira, entyvio, Simponi, Methotrexate
Surgery 10/6/2015 - colon resection with loop ileostomy
Surgery 12/18/2015 - ostomy closure. Disease came back right away and worse
Surgery 3/3/2016 - total proctocolectomy - so happy to have my stoma back!
