I can't actually remember what I wished I had asked, but the reason I finally did have ostomy surgery is basically the same as you- too much scar tissue causing strictures, nothing else to be done. At that point, it was pretty much unavoidable. I had, previously, met with 3 different surgeons over the course of 2-3 years, to discuss surgery. By the time I finally had it done, I had no more questions! I did get a "good feeling": about the surgeon I chose, & have had no complications/issues whatsoever. Frankly, I'm glad it's done! I guess if you have a Crohns dx, they mean a perm ileo? Do they remove the rectum too? I had everything out, was prone to abscesses & fistula, so no jpouch for me. But seriously, life with the ileo is good, it's not a big deal, an imposition, etc.

Tried Asacol, Rowasa, Pred, Cortenemas, Uceris, Rocephin, Cipro, Flagyl, Imuran, Remicade, Humira, turmeric, slippery elm root, marshmallow root, probiotics, homemade kefir, ayurveda, yoga, meditation, mindfulness, reiki, SCD, vegetarian, dairy free, nothing processed, gluten free... proctocolectomy w/end ileo on 4/14/14!
