LoL, thanks Vicki, when I first started reading your post, I thought it was mine. A lot of similarities. You are going through much of what I am going through. Your energy will return. Mine came back but then reverted back to being weak, so it's a yo yo for a while or at least it has been for me. Now, I am starting to feel energetic all the time. Some people heal quickly. others take time, I took time, this time around.
I felt that terrible weakness for 2 months after my surgeries and it lasted all the time. I would get so dizzy when I stood up or started walking. I would pant when I walked. Finally, I can say that I feel normal in that sense, unless I start to do exercises, or anything that exerts too much energy, then I find out that I'm not quite there yet?
With the Boost and Ensure, I just could not tolerate it, in the hospital or at home, whether it's regular sweeteners or artificial sweeteners, it's just too sweet for me/ I would drink it, be so nauseous after it and then I wouldn't eat all day. I've always had a diversion to sweet thick stuff, I can not handle it. Mind you, I eat most things now, outside of the food they caution against with stomas, my calories do not seem to be a problem, nor my protein, it comes out to an adequate amount per day. I'm not charting my carbs, but looking at my diet, I have plenty of that as well. I think my fat is adequate, since I use butter, margerine and Flax oil, not to mention the fat in the foods I eat. I eat from morning till about 9pm. I do not want to take the chance of my bag filling up too much during the night.
With the last Dr.s visit, on his scale I was 74 pounds, apparently I lost 3lbs from the appt before at 77lbs?
The weight loss really shows on me Originally I was 90 lbs with the Crohn's disease before surgery. I lost 15 Lbs in the hospital after my surgeries, but came up to 77lbs, but last time the surgeon weighed me, I dropped to 74 lbs. I am scale shy. It doesn't help. When I feel my butt cheeks are filled out, then I will stand on the scale.
Anyway, I am convinced this bag is doing this? everything just runs right through me, and I'm emptying every 20 minutes to 1/2 hr,
I will do what I have to do, I will keep on eating and hope one day those pounds will start to come in like a landslide, well, maybe not a landslide, LoL. but that I will regain all my weight and put on a few extra pounds for emergencies.
If I have to wait for my reversal, then I will wait? I want to feel strong enough for surgery.
