Hey guys, I have an ileostomy and I’ve accidentally swallowed an orange seed. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Tell me what dramas I’ve created and what I can look forward to. I’m quite worried to be honest. Such a stupid thing to do and the whole time I’m eating the orange I’m thinking ‘mustn’t swallow the seeds’

I've only had my ileostomy for 3 months so I don't know much. But I suggest drinking lots of very warm tea to help break down the seed plus massage the area around your stoma. Good luck and please share the outcome!

I hope you passed your orange seed without any incident. I have had an ileostomy for almost four years and although I try to avoid it, I will eat nuts in small amounts and I am sure I have swallowed a seed or two on occasion and I have never had an issue because of it.

I’m not sure if I have or not, panic stations at first but I’ve had lots of output and no stomach pain so maybe I’m going to be ok. Thank you for replying. This forum is so family, I love it. Ostomates are the coolest peeps!😘

I eat nuts sometimes. I just make sure to drink plenty of fluids. I wouldn't eat them within six weeks of a new stoma. This sight has taught me a lot. Welcome.
