I have had crohns and IBS for 40 years. I have been on all types of meds. But nothing seems to work. I have been thinking about having my large colon removed. Would greatly appreciate any input or whatever you feeI should know. This is not living. Thanks

I had a total colectomy due to severe UC that landed me in hospital numerous times and quickly deteriorated my health. Recovery took a little longer for me, but within days I started to feel better.

Fast forward a few years, I can tolerate foods now that I couldn't before. My only concern is with blockages. Haven't officially been diagnosed, but I had one.

You will have a better life with an ileostomy. My first night I got the best sleep ever. Good luck.

I had a total colectomy in April last year after 16 years with UC. Best decision I ever made
