I am 7 weeks post op (total colectomy)

I had 2 duty and one emergency. I’m having a terrible time with my stump and diversion Colitis and not responding to rectal meds. I’m trying to push my surgical team to book me in for stump removal ASAP as I don’t want to be going in a mess like last time. Anyone have any tips on soothing it? Anything would be appreciated.

I am going thru the same thing. My anus/rectal stump has a fistula so medication does not work. I have a colostomy. The mucus output is driving me crazy. My last surgery was a modified APR. They had to leave the anus and scrape it. They supposedly removed the rectum....

Are you on any meds currently?.

I have both UC and Crohn's so I have not been able to get off Remicade. (But it's still not helping with my anus/rectum.)

Remicade or any other biologic, for that matter, will NOT alleviate rectum/anus problems. Been there, tried that.

Nothing at all helped me so they pushed my removal date. I hope you get the surgery soon, it will be a game changer for you.

NOOOO....too old. I am 76 and my surgeon said it would be too much of an operation. I use Hydrocortisone Cream. If I used it the way I SHOULD, I probably would be ok, but sometimes I forget. I have a very high pain and discomfort tolerance, so most of the time it's ok.
