Hi holly,

Well I had my entire colon removed, the cut was from my belly button and down about 5 inches. Have to say its healing well! The scars aren't too bad at all, I had dissolvable stitches. I didn't lose any weight, but in fact put it back on again because I could finaly eat without being sick or having severe diarrhoea!

Hope this helps.

A completely empty colon only weighs about 1 pound.  Most ppl start gaining weight once the offending organ is removed and good health returns.  Everyone's incision is different, it's based on the surgeon and the patient's physiology.  Mine is straight and runs about 5-6 inches from below my navel to to top of my pubic bone.
