so yesturday i came down with the 24hr flu. comming out the top and the bottom, i was emptying my bag every 20mins and had about 3 liters of output. couldn't keep down any liquids whatsoever. i had a rough night, but woke up this morning feeling fine, like the previous night was a dream!!

anyway, i was amazed at how fast i became dehydrated. if this had gone on for a couple days i think i would have had to go to emergency to get some fluids in me...as it is i had (have) a brutal headache today. drank about 5L tho so i should be good.

are there any tricks anyone has tried to keep fluids down when you have the flu? maybe some kind of drink that stays down easier then others? all i had in the house was water, and that was no good skull open to suggestions....if there are any...

Hi!

I had the same problem last year when I got the flu....ended up in the ER and had 4 bags of fluids to rehydrate.  This year my solution was to get a flu shot! tongue Erica

Keep drinking those fluids. Try Gatorade, Sportsaid or any of those isotonic drinks to help keep you hydrated as well as keep your potassium, salts and magnesium levels up.

Hope you feel better soon.
I have had an ileostomy for 31 years now due to UC.
