so yesturday around noon my et nurse hits my rectal incision with some silver nitrate. (i think that was it) anyway it hurt a lot so i popped two tylenol 3's. all output STOPPED. around 10pm i got the cramps really bad so i went for a walk around the block, i felt better but still no output. fell asleep and got up this morning with an extremely full-to-the-top bag. is this normal?!? i know codeine can "slow your bowels down," but this much? i thought it a bit extreme. thoughts/experiences??

btw, just for you DOC, the full bag woke me up this morning, it didn't explode or fall off or anything :)

Yes, any pain killer can shut the digestion down. It varies from person to person how extreme that slowing will be. At least now you have learned your tolerance level and will be able to predict future transit times if you have to take pain medication again. Antibiotics will also reduce output.
