- Regarding having the surgery laparoscopic or
open - I think it has EVERYTHING to do with the surgeon and his/her preference. I was very thankful that my surgeon's preference was laparoscopic.
I didn't have to donate any blood pre-op. Again, I think it has everything to do with the surgeon's preference to do so.
I didn't have nausea before surgery, however, immediately after surgery I was extremely nauseous from the anesthesia (there's something in that stuff that makes me SO sick - every surgery I've had I've had to deal with the extreme nausea). They gave me what they give cancer patients for the neusea, however, I was still very sick for several hours after surgery.
Nightgown vs PJ's - If I'm not mistaken I wore a nightgown until they took all the I.V.'s out. Then I put my PJ's on (more comfortable for me). I didn't have any problems wearing panties either.
I also ordered the calmoseptine cream from my pharmacist, however, I didn't have to use it. I only dealt with very little butt burn and Prep-H did the job for me.
Now, considering my surgery was laparoscopic, I don't know what the answers to your questions would be for someone who had the surgery "open". Good luck and keep us posted OK?
RESA - It sounds as though things are going very well for you - I'm so happy to hear that!!!! I'm especially happy that you're feeling "terrific" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, please listen to your surgeon - it does take time to heal on the inside, regardless of how good we're feeling.
I'm at awe with your blood work - so many things have improved - that's GREAT. Even though I lost 25/30 pounds post-op (which was excess weight) - I've regained about seven pounds in the last five months. I was also hoping for more of a loss, but seeing that my appetite AND tolerating more foods have improved, this may not happen unless I really start watching what I'm eating (I think this means "diet" for me).
Hope everyone else is doing good - please post and let us know!!
