A question. At a rough estimate, what is the average recovery time from having an ileostomy, regarding cooking, cleaning, driving etc. I have been doing really well with mine until today. I felt very healthy and so on. However I suspected I had a water infection, and sent a specimen off on Monday. I didnt get results until late friday, and subsequently inly started the antibiotics Saturday morning, by which time I think the infection must have been raging. I couldnt get out of bed, or even lift my head without feeling sick. My ostomy didnt work for about 10 hours, and I think I became a bit dehydrated although I sipped water all day, that was all I could tolerate. I hope I'm not like this tomorrow.

Sorry to hear that marijo, I hope you are feeling better. Im only 20-something days with my ileostomy and Im still a little sore but only underneath the stoma area and its a pressure kind of feeling. Plus gravity is tugging when the bag gets any kind of weight to it, so Ive been emptying often. Im hoping to be in tip top shape by the end of July because we have a family vacation planned. Each day I feel a wee bit better.

I hope you are feeling better and have continued good health.
