You know you're in trouble when the colostomy bag is on - you pass gas - and you can smell it!

I'm surprised on how fast I can change a wafer and a bag when there's been a leak.  I feel like I work on pit road!!

that sound slightly disconcerting...however, i must say, i can easily top it.....

try whitewater rafting on the Kern river in california with friends...about 1 1/2 months after my surgery....

I got off the raft at the end of the run and we all start carrying the huge raft up to the van that would be taking us back down the 30 mile windy road....i look down and see my white tank top is now a green/brown color in some places...

Of course, i did not have a spare appliance, i had to drain the leaky one as best as i could, in the portable andy gump (toilet), leaving the pouch on, still leaky, since otherwise, i would have nothing to stop the flow....

I threw away the tank top after using it to clean up as much of the leakage as i could. Fortunately, i had a dark colored t-shirt with me that i could wear....i put my swim trunks waistband over the pouch, tightened the string....and hoped for the best....that was the longest ride of my life! thank god my output had slowed down graciously for me for most of the ride.....

my best friend's girlfriend walked back the 1/2 mile to the car when we got down the hill and got my replacement pouch.....that's what i call a "real" friend!

****oh, illness/symptoms/ sucks....let's just say I put the "Bag" in "GladBag" ok! / diagnosed at age 15, i have made it to 30 now (yeehaw), temp. ileostomy 4/20/07 due to multiple, persistent fistulas of the worst imaginable variety....any fistula sucks if you ask me..but now that I had surgery....I am loving live..for the most part..if I could only find a new girlfriend
