yes pd is difficult to diagnose, and only thru a biopsy of the brain, can 100% confirmation be arrived at.Many other neurological disorders have similar symptoms(essential tremor,alzheimers,m.s.,lyme disease,m.s.a. a.l.s. to mention a few) so a DX is often arrived at by a process of elimination, and the effectiveness of sinemet on the symptoms.if this drug is effect it is indicative of a form of parkinson's disease.to complicate matters there are several forms of pd,and individuals with pd usually exhibit different symptoms.Keep researching the disease, and you,and your father will both benefit from the knowledge, and always ask for a second opinion.Any neurologist worht their salt will go along with this.Wish you,and your father the best.Ed
