Good Morning Everyone*
I have been with a very kind, Lady and assisting her since July 2017. Her age is 88. Her Neurologist has diagnosed her with Parkinson's like symptoms with no Tremors.
Although I was a Private in home Caregiver in my home state of Illinois for 6 years, I did not have a client with these symptoms...PIGD ( partial instability gait difficulty).
I am having trouble assisting her with everyday little things, when she get freezes in her movements, usually in bent over posture and has much trouble getting her right leg to move to take a step or turn around.
She also insists upon crawling into her bed( with me assisting her from behind.
She's so very sweet and an absolutely lovely Lady, who many times gets very frustrated with her condition.
Do you know of a website I can visit to learn how to assist her more.
I've visited soooo many and am getting confused. Thank you* Have a Wonderful Day*

Hello & welcome to Healing Well. Unfortunately, this forum tends to run slow. Have you checked this website, Parkinson's.org? Perhaps you can glean some info there, as one of the topics is living with Parkinson's. Also on this site you can put in your city & state to see if they have a local group in your area. Have you checked on FaceBook to see if there is a caregiver forum there?

Take care.

Mrazek, welcome to Healing Well. I have never really looked for caregiver information, but hopefully you'll find something helpful.

I agree with straydog in the previous comments that a caregiver support group would be a great place to start. You might try googling: parkinsons disease support group <enter city here>

Aside from that, there are 3 or 4 major PD organizations. You could check out their websites. They are:
1) American Parkinsons Disease Association - APDA
2) Parkinson Foundation - PF(recent merger of National Parkinsons Foundation and Parkinsons Disease Foundation)
3) Michael J Fox Foundation - MJFF

Here is one write-up from the MJFF site:

Here's a caregiver site that looks pretty informative:
