Neupro patch recall

My brother is 67 years old, DX of Parkinson’s and is in a long term care facility. His nurse called today to inform me that the manufacturer of Neupro patch, has recalled this medication. He had gone without this medication for one week in the past and went through pretty awful withdrawal symptoms. He takes 6 mg/24 hours daily. Any suggestions?

IS your brother treated by drs there in the facility or does he have outside drs he can see? The facility should have another medication available for him to take. If you live close to the facility, I would make an in person visit & ask about an alternative medication. Leaving him with nothing doesn't sound right.

The only Parkinson's-related patch that was recalled was Rotigitine in 2008. That's the only one I know of.
The problem was with the delivery mechanism - the patch itself. The drug was crystalizing on the patch. It was recalled, issue resolved and patch re-released,
