Thank you all,
It's amazing how God graces me with such good friends as your selves. Just like my friend that was here with us tonight you guys are here in my cyber support world. The biggest gift from Heallingwell is the gift of love and friendship. Along with God's other amazing graces, is the gift of life itself. My mother was Dx'ed with stage IV cancer tonight. After a few more tests we'll know what we will do next. I spoke with her tonight and I will be with her tomorrow to be able to tell her about you guys and the love and prayers you have sent. Thank you all so very much. And may God Bless you all.

PS: I am OK. Just a little cancer weary. But Ruthie is with me and we'll be together with my mom.

Tony
Age 45 (44 when Dx)
Pre-op PSA was 19.8
Surgery on Feb 16, 2007
Post-Op Pathology was poor: Gleason 4+3=7, 4 positive margins, Stage pT3b (Stage III)
HT began in May, '07 with Lupron and Casodex 50mg
IMRT radiation for 38 Treatments ending August 3, '07

My PSA did drop out after surgery to undetectable.  It has not returned and I will continue HT until January '08.

My Life is supported very well by family and friends like you all.

If your mom has a quarter of your PMA (positive mental attitude) and emotional strength (and more likely she has 4 times as much as you do, since mom's usually do!), than she will stay strong through her battle just as you have done.   It's a challenging time for you, your mom and the rest of your family to be sure.  But Healingwell certainly demonstrates the strength in community of which you are already aware.  You have all of us thinking positive thoughts for both of you.

Doug

42 yo.
PSA 4.65
Gleason scores from 4 pathologies of the same biopsy with 2 of 12 cores positive for cancer (if this isn't confusing to the patient...):

1) both cores 3+4 (Weiss Memorial)
2) one 3+4 and one 3+3 (Univ. of Chicago Hosp.)
3) both cores 3+3 (Mass General Hosp.)
4) both cores 3+4 (Northwestern Memorial Hosp.)

9/17/07 - Radical Retropubic Prostatectomy Surgery at Northwestern Memorial in Chicago by Dr. William Catalona.

and the winner is...post op Gleason score of 3+4.

Good pathology report with negative margins, no seminal vesicale involvement, no lymphatic or vascular invasion, bladder and urethral free and tumor volume was 5% of 27.3g.  Amazing how something so small can cause such problems!

9/27/07 - Catheter removal...let the games begin...

Hi Tony

I am so sorry to hear you have to face your mom going thru cancer. God bless you and your family. Please know that you and your mom will be in our prayers. I think if I were facing cancer and had a son with such a positive outlook on life to support me thru half the battle would be won. Hang in there Tony & please take care of your self while you are going thru this rough time.

Warm wishes

Diana

God Bless you all. I don't have much time, I have to go to a prayer session for my mom. I have updated my journal with a message for you all. My mom is out of danger for the time being. We have the cancer issue still but we here are familiar with it. Thank you again. I will be back later today.

My thoughts and prayers are with your mother as well as the rest of your family this evening, Tony.
Diagnosed: March 25, 2007. Age 49
Biopsy: Gleason 6. Five of twelve samples positive with <5% each. No perineural invasion seen.
Surgery: May 21, 2007
Post-op Pathology: Upgraded to Gleason 7 (3+4), negative margins, negative capsular penetration, negative seminal vesicles, lymph nodes left intact, multifocal perinural invasion, 15% of prosate involving cancer in both lobes. T2c
Continence: Out of pads at five weeks. Seven months post-op I'm fully continent.
Erections: Yes! With the assistance of Cialis.
Post Surgery PSA: Three tests, all <0.1
Family history: Great-great grandfather died from PC. My Father had his prostate removed at age 67 in 1997 and has had an undetectable PSA ever since. I was diagnosed at a much earlier age and had a more agressive cancer than my father. Go figure.
