Rip,  I saw that you had a bladder sling done at the time of your surgery.  Can you give us any insight as too why your Dr. did this?  Did he suspect incontenance problems?  I am one of the incontenant guys here (15 months).  THe Dr. I am seeing for incontenance believes I will need the AUS instead of the sling.  I am thinking I would rather have the sling.  Even if I had to do one, then go back and have the AUS done if that did not work.  I just do not like the idea of all the plumbing being inside me for another 30+ years if I am to live that long!
I would appreciate any information you may have.

My surgeon felt that after all the surgeries he had done, he saw that generally incontinence was greatly decreased when a bladder sling was installed. He routinely installs a bladder sling in all of his patients who have radical prostatectomies. Frankly, I am glad he did. I don't know how much it actually helped, but I am sure it did not hurt. Let's say, I would hate to be opened up again to have this procedure done. I had very little leaking right from the start. I used a couple of the triangular shaped light pads each day for 11 weeks. I really did not need two per day, but did not like the idea of wearing it all day....if you know what I mean. I never really had more than a few drips per day. If you are interested, and would like to contact my surgeon, his name is David Hollensbe in Indianapolis, Indiana.
