I'm curious........did anyone experience any leakage when they had their catheter in them? Wondering if this is normal.

you mean urine/blood coming out of your penis while the catheter is still in? Yep, it's normal. Also, when having a bowel movement, I could not control the contraction of my bladder as I was defecating and would squirt quite a lot of urine out despite the catheter. darn, I was glad to get rid of that thing.

It is very normal to have some urine and bloody urine and even blood come out of your penis with the catheter in. remember, if you have qustions that you feel really uneasy about, call your doctor. He is used to it.
By the way, did you just have surgery on the 23rd?  how you doing?  Pretty well if you're on here already. Keep us posted!
It WILL get better. i was feeling much better by the fourth day after surgery. I was up and around and my wife went to work all day and left me. Take care of yourself and enjoy the forced confinement.

I had some leakage when I had a bowel movement the first two or three days. I also had leakage when I used a plug in the catheter when I took a shower. I followed the instructions using the plug but stop using it after that first time and had leakage. There was a little blood seepage around the catheter at the tip of the penis the first few days and you just have to keep it cleaned off so it does not dry and pull on the penis. My penis tip got real sore even with the neosporin and frequent cleaning.

I think there is a lubricant that they use that might come out.

Sometimes mine would get like little crystals on the tube and they would hurt if they were not washed off with warm water. You could feel them right as it came out.

Hi Phillysub:  i agree with Paul1959.  I experienced some leakage from the cath too -- blood, urine etc..  I think it was a pressure issue because I'd notice it mostly during my BMs., or attempts at BMs.
Sounds like you're doing well though.  So take it easy.  Limit your physical activities to walking or gently going up and down stairs etc.
Do (but don't overdo) your Kegels and before you know it, you'll be back to 100 percent.
Best to ya,

D.O.B - 8/9/52
