lifeline-

I don't know how or why you "gain such strength and hope from you", but I'm humbled by your words. Thank you.

My pearls of wisdom for you tonight are that you are the best ally your husband has. And as such, you have two particularly hard jobs, as does my wife and the other wives here. You have to be strong for your husband and help him to make choices and give him the will to fight. This is probably the hardest thing you've ever done, or will do.

The other thing you have to do, for both of you, is to take care of yourself. It's important for you to have some time away from the "situation" to catch your breath. Enjoy your time with the family and don't feel guilty. You have nothing to feel guilty about. Taking time for yourself not only helps you, but, it gives you strength to deal with your husband's problems, too.

I hope my ramblings make some sense and that things start looking up for you two. It's time.

Hi Les,

Just a refresher about "thinkin' of you" as Walt posted.  I saw this post on lifeline~Kathy's thread post and was deeply touched by your unselfish friendship here.  Time and again you have touched many here with beautiful Love and support.  This is one of those bluebird <<<hugs>>>, and I am not ashamed to send one to you.  If you call this rambling, as an old favorite song goes, "Lord, I was born born a ramblin' man".

So now it's my turn to "ramble", if it's ok?  Thank you for being you.  Thank you for being our friend.  I know you do not share my feelings about this part but it is well intended.  But May God bless you and Carol.  You have done much good for all of us and I will keep praying that you are always blessed with peace.

Hey I feel kinda nice when I'm rambling...

(PS: I wasn't really rambling)

Your friend,

Tony

Hey Tony-

I just had Carol read your post and I asked her how I should respond, because I'm really at a loss for words.

I'm going to share something with you that is very personal. When I was told that the "beast" had spread to my lungs I started seeing a therapist. Gina is neither a psychiatrist nor a psychologist, but, rather, has the designation ED.S after her name. I was referred to her by my health insurance company. She's about 17 years my junior and extremely intuitive and there are weeks when I have nothing in particular to discuss, but keep the appointment anyway because I enjoy being in her company and trying to stump her with questions about this or that, which I don't think she can answer, but, somehow, she always does. On many occasions I have started the same discussion with her - that I don't feel that I have contributed anything to the world. I feel that my life has just about balanced out: I've worked to earn money to support myself and everything is pretty much even. I haven't done anything particularly special to help the world. Have done nothing to earn fame or fortune. Not many people know me or my name and when I'm gone, only a few will be there to say goodbye or to remember me.

And Gina always counters my argument by saying that what I've done in my life is to be nice to people, to make them smile and feel good. And I know that to be true, but, haven't been convinced that that was worth much. Until I got here to HealingWell. You and many of the others have reinforced what she's been telling me and I can't begin to tell you how much that means to me.

I'm going to end now because I'm getting kind of emotional. But I do promise to continue doing what I've been doing because despite what I think about its worth, apparently you guys think differently. Thank you.

PSA drops to <0.01
7/2005-8/2005 5 weeks of IMRT and then HDR brachy
1/2007 Rad Oncologist orders CT scan of pelvis
because of complaints of pain in both thighs
MRI confirms pain not caused by cancer BUT
1/2007 CT scan of pelvis picks up a nodule at bottom of left lung
5/2007 CT scan of lungs shows 1/2007 nodule has grown and
there are numerous nodules on both lungs.
6/2007 Thoracic surgeon removes wedge of left lung for biopsy

never seen cells like this before.
8/2007 2nd opinion at M.D. Anderson in Houston.

PSA still undetectable, but get Lupron shot to bring T down from 27
2/2008 Trip to Houston – PSA now 0.5 and nodules larger. Lupron shot.

Gordy, I haven't chimed in here, but I have kept up with your posts and those who have responded. I, for one, think you're terrific and an inspiration to all of us. I can't speak for anyone else, but you have made a contribution to my life. I wish you many more years, and when our time comes, I hope we both go out with a martini in hand and a WOOHOO on our lips!

Les-
Your wife, Gina and Tony are all right. We need you, adore you and appreciate you in more ways then you can begin to understand. So, know that while you might not leave this earth famous, you have made a difference in so many of our lives. You give us hope, humor and strength. I will never forget you or so many others here on HW for that. Thanks for being you.

Les,

Oh, my dear friend, you have made such a difference in this world. You have changed people in more ways than you will ever know. I was told one time that if you can help one person or change the life of one person, you change the whole world. Everything is different after that change. You have changed the world. I don't think many of us will get a spot in any history books, but you have a whole chapter in my life's book. How about that big guy! Keep telling your story and fighting your fight. You are changing lives. I'm going to keep praying and you keep fighting, we are winners! Winners!

Les gets the WAR EAGLE of the day award!

Love ya bother,

Walt
