Just to let everyone know (KW and Gene, you might want to take note), I am scheduled for mid- April to have an AMS 800 installed. I am 8 months past having my prostate removed, and although I have been doing two to three sets of kegels daily, I am still leaking to the point of six to seven pads a day (no way to enjoy life).  And two months ago I went to a specialist who did a bladder check, and she said it was doubtful that my continence would return.

Anyway, the procedure sounds pretty simple compared to the last operation, and I can't wait to get this done. Many patients become totally leak free after this, and it is supposedly really easy to use. Do I think there is a chance my continence would have returned after a year or two? Yes, maybe, but doubtful. And this will fix it once and for all. Yee-ha!

Hey Bob, I have decided to do the AdVance sling (Frb.22nd) made by the same company that makes the AUS. Not sure how old you are but I did not want to do that at 44 years old. I hope the sling will give me the improvement I am looking for. I can always do the AUS at a later date if needed. Please let us know how things go.

good luck,

KW

KW,

Good for you!  I am 58, but in your case the advanced sling would be better.  Besides, I read one of your posts not long ago that indicated you have become more continent than I, and thus the sling would be more appropriate. I'll keep you posted on my results!

Still using 6+ full pads a day. I may be pushing the limit on the sling but I will take that chance first!
