False alarm on my part. PSA went from .010 to .019. Dr said that was insignificant especially since they are now employing a more sensitive machine. Therefore, he said the 9 was totally insignificant. Said if it went from .01 to .03 in three months we might consider radiating the prostatic bed. Also stated that there was a reasonably good chance that no further treatment would ever be needed. Told me to quit worrying.

Scoop Procedure: Dr. Shaw explained that is is more of a last resort procedure. The testicles are removed & the bladder, etc. are scraped. Therefore, no more testosterone. Indicated it is more of a life saving procedure, as opposed to treatment therapy.

Hope this explains....

Ummm, yeah, castration is a whole lot different than "scooping" sounds. Thank goodness neither is an issue :>)

Glad to hear that your psa numbers are settling down.  I know I have been concerned lately because my psa numbers moved from a minus to a plus. Your numbers as stated are still lower than my urologist considers reason for concern. He will only consider further testing if my psa is .2 (two tenths) for two or more tests.

When you look at the decimal point, you see that the difference from .01 (one hundredth) to point .03 (three hundredths) is not even measurable in older tests.  Now if you move up to a .2 (two tenths) you have made a bigger move.  I forgot a lot of my 6th grade math, but remember .2 is TWENTY times more than .01 .

Good luck and double check anything your doctor says.
