I have been doing kegals since a month before surgery, and am still doing them 7 months after surgery. A question for the group. Do you think kegals are/do help, and are you still doing them, or have you stopped doing them at some point? Is this something that we will need to do the rest of our lives in order to stay continent?

Thanks

Hello Rip n' burn,

Sounds like a similar recovery time. I gradually discontinued the Kegals after 3 months, and now I'm back to normal. No problems with sneezing, coughing, or laughing either. You can certainly call you doctor for advise, but if you're not suffering any leaking problems he/she will probably say the Kegals are no longer necessary.

Good luck to you, and a continued uneventful recovery.

I did them a month or so before surgery and stopped after I became continent. I think that was around 6-7 weeks after surgery.

I go back for my 1 week post sling surgery visit on friday. I plan to ask my Dr. if I should do kegeals after I heal up.
