Pain in the Right Side, Bad

  For about the last 4 days I have had a very sharp pain in the right side, right were the largest hole is. Dr. said all men have a pain there, some worse then others. It has been so bad that if I try to bend at all, it will bring tears to my eyes; it’s a very sharp deep pain. I am about 40 lbs overweight and it happens when the stomach folds over. I have wrapped a 6-inch ACE bandage around tightly my middle. The difference has been as different as night and day, I can pick stuff up, get in and out of the car etc.  Anyone know what causes this? What do you do to make it better?   Thanks  

Most of the pain that I experienced was from gas pain.  It was very painful at times, particularly the first 2 or 3 days after surgery.

Every time I saw a nurse I was asked if I had passed gas.  Had no idea gas could hurt like that, but it sure did.  Was told that the openness of the surgery leads to air being captured when the patient is sewed up.

Not sure if this is the problem you are experiencing, but thought I would share.

I remember that I had a similar pain on the right side - lasted a few days and then gradually went away. My dr said the same thing as your's. He beat me up pretty bad inside, and there's lots of healing going on. This too shall pass . . .
