This morning I think I had my lst hot flash. I turned on the fan and stood in front of it hoping for 90 mile an hour winds..

I walked in the kitchen and told me husband... He said.. "Great, I've lost the function of my penis and you're going thru menopause, this is gonna be fun!!

I've had a pretty down week and this just made for a good start. He always makes me laugh and I think thats what has gotten us thru this so far....

Yes VaFan you have to find some humor in all of this. On my first post-op visit with my surgeon, he asked how things were going. He about fell out of his chair when I told him my turtle would not come out of his shell. Sometimes it is good to laugh a little and not cry all the time.

VAfan,

MY better half (now 55) has pretty much finished the menopause stage and has some lingering issues.

Although she has not verbalized it, I can tell her response to my continue ED is "Maybe now you won't bother me so much". nono

I keep telling her "Just wait, I'm getting better and I'm open to try anything short of chains & whips".  She just laughs.

Ah! Life goes on.

At least no more cancer for now!

Tell Kent to just wait.  If his progress is like mine, he may start having hot flashes along with you, as his body and chemistry adjusts to the loss of the seminal vessels and assorted attachments.  It's taken me about 6 months to adjust from having them.

I always feel sympathy for the guys who have to go through those flashes. VA - mine started just a few months ago, so I feel your, er, heat.

I've been wanting to bring this up as it might help the guys, although both methods eventually failed, but a few months of relief were certainly great.

First, I added 400mg of Vitamin E and the flashes were non-existent by the next day. When that started to fail, I started taking a product called "soy menopause." Again, it worked instantly and I had great luck until about a month ago. Tried black cohosh and it was not pretty. But, now the flashes seem to be less frequent and more bearable (sort of).

Guys - these methods might be worth discussing with your docs.
VA - just go stick your head in the freezer the next time one hits.

Keep the laughs coming!

Now that made me laugh!!! I didn't even think about the freezer!!

I wasn't told about men having the hot flashes but now I think about it, he has been saying "Is it hot in here?" and it hasn't been. He is not one to sweat that much either and I noticed it more. I just didn't put 2 and 2 together. Oh Boy, we are gonna be a fun couple. :)
