My Uncle is on Casodex and had his first Eligard shot (in the stomach) a few days ago. He feels very tired. Is this a side effect or do you think the stress is catching up. He stills has to have an MRI (was supposed to be today canceled until tomorrow) and another Cat scan before starting radiation.
Thanks
Cheryl

Cheryl,

It's probably a little of one and a lot of the other. Fatigue is one of the more common side effects. Those who keep active and do daily excersise seem to have an edge on fatigue. Hope uncle can hang in and get to walking or to the gym for a little recumbant bike.

God Bless, Swim

My dad was pretty tired in the beginning and had a few days where he would nap in the afternoons during his radiation treatment. However, he told me yesterday he is finally feeling like his usual self. (He is still on HT) Hopefully, your uncle starts feeling better soon. I am sure it is a combo of everything. It is so much for a person to go through and I believe the emotional part is extremely difficult, however, the side effects from HT are definitely real. He will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Dale, what's the vitamin regiment you're on???

My husband wasn't that tired when he first started HT but seems to be getting more tired in general, and is sometimes extremely tired.

I take vitamin C, Rhodiola, Green Tea Extract, ground flaxseed, Omega 3 fish oil, melatonin (at night), and 6 multi vitamins per day. This was all prescribed to me by my hospital naturopath and it works great.

Dale,

My husband and I have been taking ground flax seed and cod liver oil for years.  Not only is it good for your body, it is great for your brain (stress, anxiety and depression).  My uncle is drinking green tea, is the extract better? He is on a vitamin plan because before his cancer diagnoses he was diagnosed with an immune problem.  Doctor at Fox Chase said it did not contribute to cancer but MAY have it allowed to move faster.  What is Rhodiola? As far as exercise he has very bad knees. When he walks they just give out! He was getting ready for a replacement when  his cancer appeared. His shoulder has been replaced. He plans to start going to the gym soon.

Thanks for your reply
