Bob went to the doctor today for a scheduled ultrasound and bone scan with the doctor today. The doctor is concerned because the nodule that he felt before is getting bigger and said if it was scar tissue it would not grow like it has and he does not like some of the images on the ultrasound. The doctor said to return to his office after we completed the bone scan at the hospital and we would talk about the results of both tests. Thank goodness the bone scan came back good but the doctor again said he is very concerned about the elevation in his psa and the nodule so Bob is scheduled for a second biopsy on that same nodule next Thursday the 22nd. Poor guy this will be the third time he has been through this. The doctor said if it comes back cancer then we would get started on radiation asap and hope that resolves his elevated psa and the cancer was localized. If the nodule is not cancer then he wants Bob to see the head prostrate research doctor at Oregon Health Science University in Portland. The doctor wants a second opinion before pulling the trigger to do radiation because Bob's psa level was low when they first discovered the cancer and he feels that even with the elevation of his psa the cancer could be way ahead of the psa level and that Bob's case is unusual. So we hope to get some direction by the end of the month. Was a very long day, left the house at 7am and did not return until 8pm tonight. We live 2 1/2 hours from the hospital.
Has anyone else had a low psa at discovery of the cancer and a nodule show up a year later with a elevated psa? thanks for everything.
