Walter...Here I come...War Eagle, Baby.

I had a prayer answered in a great way today.  I spoke to Walt on Friday and we talked about how we are trying to get together.  Two weeks ago I flew to Jacksonville and wanted to take a side trip to see my buddy there.  Well our finances are not like they used to be.  We struggle to keep what we have right now.  While in Jacksonville I reunited with many friends.  One in particular, today has my heart sailing above the clouds.  She is a wonderful lady named Sheryl.  We have worked at the same company more than ten years and she heard about my plight to get to see our friend War eagle!  She told me that she just may be able to help.  Her husband works at Southwest Airlines.  And today, I received a buddy pass in the mail.  AMEN.

I am very touched by this charity.  My heart is still too high to grasp, but I will use this pass humbly.  Thank you to Sheryl, Jeff, Julie, and anyone else involved in this blessing.  Namely my Lord above.  This prayer answer is one that is hard to explain.  But I don't need to explain it.  I was led to a very special lady, and I was blessed with the means to make this meeting happen.

I wanted to share this with you all.  I posted today on my blog that I have tremendous Faith in our world.  Too many times I read about the bad news.  I have had a great last two weeks.  I saw over a hundred people whom I Love and respect.  I went to the University of Iowa where afetr seven years of work, finally got to see the campus wide voice network that I personally engineered and designed.  I had two cancer markers come back clean.  I got to see my family in California.  My story was featured in a cancer publication and was released Wednesday.  I now I have the means to head to Trussville Alabama.  This ticket is my Vette.  It's my special thing I did once I got cancer.  And I will cherish it so.

Tony-
You and Walt deserve every blessing that comes your way! Personally, it sounds like TROUBLE if you ask me, but nobody asked right :) Who knows what kind of re-decorating mess you two can get yourselves into.
On a serious note, my heart is sooooo happy that you two will be able to get together! What a blessing! Be sure and send pics! Keeping you both close in thoughts and prayers!!

Tony and Walt:

Brought a tear to my eye - what a great get-together that should be.  Not sure if it was Southwest, but know there was one of the airlines who gave free flights to some of the men coming to Loma Linda for Pca treatment.  Guess anyone who has to fly for treatment should ask - can't hurt.  Have a wonderful visit and a safe flight.

Our plans are set.

I will be departing on June 19 and leaving June 24. I already loath the 24th and can't wait for the 19th. I also spoke with the lady who made this possible after I spoke to Walt this morning. I reiterate ~ she is very wonderful and very kind. I should have told her thanks for the first class seating. Southwest does not have first class seating, but these ones are better. I'll enjoy the pretzels!

Dutch, Chayna, Diana,
Thank you so much. I will bring all of these well wishes with me. Pics will be on my blog.

Dutch, that is great advice for our patients here. We should get the word out about the different airlines that help our friends who settle on local treatment because that is the only means they have. I bet some of the major hotel chains will do the same. When I had surgery at the City of Hope the hotels ALL discounted the rates. But you gotta ask. I was very fortunate that my family was 38 miles from the hospital. I did get a room the night before and the next night for Ruth, but she didn't use the room the 2nd night. Instead she slept next to me at the hospital. Then stayed at my sisters house.

Unfortunately they won't cover these trips for friendly reasons but that's OK right now. I found a friend who cared and made it happen.

Blessing to all. What great news. Tony and I had a wonderful phone call today. The plans are set and, Tony, even better news. Friday the 20th is my night to sing at Celebrate Recovery. We will have a great night and a fantastic weekend. Johnnie is excited and ready to start cooking. I will get in touch with Brian and Scott so they will able to spend some time with you also.

After talking with Tony the side effects from last Thursday's chemo kicked in pretty good. I should be better in a day or so. The timing of the visit will be perfect. I should be over the side effects and ready to show Tony and Ruthie some good old southern hospitality. I think we will plan a cookout. We can't wait. You are so right Richard, blessing to Sheryl.

Love and blessings to all and........War Eagle, baby.

Walt
