My uncle had his MRI 2 weeks ago and was molded for radiation.  We have not heard the results so I want to assume no news is good news. I would think if they found cancer in the bone the game plan might change.  Anyway, next week he as to have his first PSA after being on casodex for about a month and one Eligard shot. They want to do this before giving him the next shot.  Does the PSA come down that quickly? I am very nervous for him.

I believe that the MRI is just to make sure things are aligned correctly for the radiation, so from our experience anyways, it is typical that you don't hear anything for that particular MRI. My father has not had another PSA since starting the HT. I thought they should, but who am I!? :-) They probably want to have the most accurate baseline PSA prior to your Uncle's radiation. I don't think there is anything to worry about. It all sounds like standard protocol. My father has his first PSA following radiation in about 2 months. It is so easy to worry, I definitely know, but this forum is great for putting some of those worries at ease. HW has saved me from a lot of sleepless nights. Try to stay positive and we will keep you and your uncle in our thoughts and prayers.
Hopefully, both our loved ones will have undetectable PSA's. Hang in there!!

My husband started with Casodex (PSA 279) and then had another PSA test before starting Lupron for a new base --His PSA had dropped to 179 in only a few weeks. His last PSA was 12 so the PSA can drop in a short amount of time. Good Luck!

Thanks so much for your replys.  I did not know that the MRI was for alignment.  It makes sense because he was also molded for radiation that week.  He needs to get the radiation started to feel he is fighting this.

Thanks again
