I'm reading about all the ED issues and folks taking injections and other sorts of treatments. As you can see, I'm only 5 weeks post surgery and using Levitra 20mg since the surgery and the vacuum pump. I'm about 60 to 70% back to original. Will see the surgeon back in three weeks for 8 weeks follow up and discuss this.
I would certainly appreciate some advice from the folks that went through this.

Kris,

Are you 60-70% without oral meds or with oral meds?  If without, are you 100% with oral meds?  If so, no need for injections.

Most docs say start injections as soon as you are comfortable, usually after incontinence clears up or diminishes greatly.

At my six week post op appoitment my surgeon told me that I could start injections then if I wanted or try the pump.  I opted for the pump but within a short period decided to try the injections.

Dan,
If Levitra and the vacuum pump are considered "Oral Medications" then I'm at 60% to 70% (this is the best I had so far). I have not tried any other method as yet and no I have never reached 100% since surgery. I've been getting some headaches with the Levitra so my doctor prescribed Cialis but I haven't started this as yet as I wanted to finish the couple of Levitra I have left. My doctor told me to take the Cialis (20mg) twice a week whereas I used to take the Levitra every other day. How often are you guys taking Cialis?
To be honest I really can't tell the difference between oral med and non med. On the days that I don't take the med or use the pump, I can still get up to 60%-70% with some self stimulation (wife just playing around [hope I don't get ban for this]). With the med its the same. Maybe I'm confused.

Kris, oral meds are any that you take in your mouth, such as Levitra, Cialis or Viagra.

You seem to be making very good progress, but if you want usable erections now, you might ask your urologist about injections.  In addition to providing erections, they are thought to be very good therapy.

Hi Kris

seems like you are doing very well as Dan said before , it does take time to heal and slow slowwww progress when it comes to your nerves, but if you so fas back to 60-70% you are well on the right path, i left injections as m last resort , i a almost a year post op from my open RP, and my progress is very slow but there is a noticeable progress, i am back to almost 90% wit meds and 100% with th pump use, i am thinking that in my next one year visit i will start Injection therapy to ump start getting back to normal soon.

it might be also a slower healing process for my nerves since i had open surgery and my nerves probably were touched and pulled more than the less invasive Robotic RP as yours was ...
Good Luck and keep us posted

GB :-)

Kris,

Got your email and responded.

I hope this helps some.  People such as biker90 and JamesC are great sources of information on this topic.

Good luck.

KrisP, I started injections at about 6 mos, could have earlier but I was holding out, my MD would have started at 3 mos had I been willing. Once started, it, like the surgery, is more of a mental thing than anything, not really painful or hard to do, just have to convince yourself that you can do it.
