The Washington Business Journal reported that a urine diagnostic test is being developed to detect prostate cancer. The test strip has a wireless sensor tag and contains antibodies that react with prostate specific antigen (PSA) in the urine.

The test result is sensed by sensor tag and sent to a cell phone or PDA that processes and sends the data to the physician.  It is hoped that the availability of a urine test will increase the number of men who regularly evaluate their prostate health

Mika--I think that was one of the ideas behind developing a urine PSA test, to get those who are needle phobic or don't see the doctor regularly, to get tested.  I say, whatever works is good!

Age 59  PSA quadrupled in 1 yr (0.6 to 2.5)
DRE neg  1 of 12 biopsies pos (< 5%)
Open surgery June 2006
Organ confined pT2a  Gleason 5 (3+2)  PSA's < 0.1
