Rolly_m2007 posted this on my post and hoping someone can help him with this as I'm at a loss right now myself.
Thanks

hello everyone. I am new to this forum, and I guess a little out of the loop, so to speak. I had a prostate operation on January 17, 2007. since then I have not been able to have an erection, but have been able to, I think, orgasm in a soft way. I am concerened that I will never have an erection. I live in a small town, with an idiot of a doctor, my urologist is 3 hours away, and the urologist who did the operation isd about 11 hours away. I have no one to chat to about this, and feel lost and very confused.
If you can help, please do

Hi Rolly, Welcome to HW, sorry to meet you in such circumstances....17 months without any sign of an erection does seem like a long time.  We are usually told 12 to 18 months on average, up to 3 years for the unusual cases.  So that makes you at the top of the average cases,if that makes you feel any better.  eyes

Some questions you can answer to help us help you.

1.  Did you have nerve sparing surgery?

2. Have you done any Erectile Dysfunction rehab yet, such as ED (Viagra, etc) pills, the VED penis pump, or injections?

3.  Are you willing to do some of the above in #2 to begin a rehab program?

You are at the right place for information, advice, and support, if you want it.  We may not take the place of your doctors, but we can offer support and concern for your situation, if you want it.  How about posting back here, after making a signature out, detailing some of the what has been your history, like others do here.  JUst click the Control Panel above, then Edit Profile, go to the bottom of that and fill out the Signature section.  Again, stick around, ask all you want, nothing is too personal here....lol tongue

Hi Rolly

Sorry to hear that you haven't had very much support or help.  This is a difficult time to get through. This board can be very helpful.  As you can see I had my surgery at about the same time as you.

I did not have any continence problems but here we are about 18 months later and I am still not able to have an erection without help. I am in my mid 60's and never ever had a problem before surgery. My doctor said one nerve was spared. My libido is still working, but the various parts are not.  I need either a shot (bi-mix) or a pump with rings to achieve an erection.  My wife is very supportive so we manage to get things done. The pills just give me a stuffy nose and headache.

I hope you are trying all of these things, it is worth it.  Let us know how you are doing.

biopsy 10/16/06
T2A,  PSA 4.7

Post op confirms gleason 4+4=8
no extension or invasion found
no continence problems
PSA 90 day -.01  , 6 month -.01 , 9 month +.02 , 1 year +.02
Ed problems continue
Now using Bi-mix
