Les received some news yesterday that has changed his treatment course. With his permission I’m posting for him. I know you would want to know.

On his last visit to Houston Les didn’t have complete info as to his test results and his doctor’s plans when he left for home. By email yesterday his doctor’s assistant in Houston informed him of the following:

1. Doctor wants him to continue Lupron and add Zometa

2. CT of the chest shows “progression of pulmonary metastases” Due to the fact that a few lung nodules have increased in size chemotherapy should be started in next 2-3 months. Two clinical trials were suggested.

3. CT of abdomen & pelvis – “Ill-defined opacity of the right acetabulum which could relate to metastatic disease”

4. Whole Body Bone Scan – “Intense uptake in the right acetabulum that appears to be larger in extent compared to the previous study” Follow up bone scans recommended

Now, this is not the information Les was given when he left Houston and so you can imagine his shock. He will start researching this new information, the clinical trials and may go for another opinion.

I hope I've stated this all correctly but I'm sure Les will be on line before too long to straighten me out if I misspoke.
As you have been, please, keep Les and Carol in your thoughts & prayers.

I am very sorry to hear this news. I have grown to Love Les and Carol, and want them to know that my prayers and well wishes are very genuine and caring. We will stay very close to him and shower him with Love and support.

I guess I'm a note ahead, but Walt will be posting some not so good news as well after church tonight. Please visit his website for an update there.

This is not a good day for us at Healingwell, and this is a reminder of the very serious nature of our disease.

Both of these men are great members and I am truly in disbelief. My God bring peace to them and us here and what I would really like to see is some of these trials work well. Please, if you do pray, now is the time, and if you don't, send the very best positive energy you can.

It really saddened me to read this update about Les.  He and his family will be in my prayers for healing and peace in the midst of this unexpected turn toward the worse.

I am very sorry and surprised to hear this.  I'm also disappointed that Les was so ill informed.  He's an intelligent and well read guy and I doubt that he misunderstood so much.  This is just lousy.  I hate it.

I have just read Walt's latest Caringbridge, Tony and I hate that, too.  It's all so discouraging and infuriating.

That's really terrible news for both Les and Walt. And to be so ill-informed is just infuriating. Am wishing them both of all the best in dealing with another setback. Dutchy

It's hard not to be angry. My heart breaks for Les & Carol and I don't understand how he could have received such different news in person. It is absolutely heartbreaking and I will continue to pray for him and absolutely hate this disease. Very sad day at HW. :(

With that being said, I'm grabbing a paddle and rowing!  We are here with you Les!!!

Ya know, I wish sometimes I could meet some of you to just say hi or give a hug. This all seems so cruel. I will keep Les and Walt in prayer.

This goes to show how much we all need each other. This week in my weekly meditation I actually wrote about what it means to be friends. Even though we are online friends, I feel so close to everyone. My prayer is that thru Les and Walt's weakness, we all can be strong, and share in this burden in an emotional and spiritual way. My heart goes out to fighters, as well as caregivers. Like I always say "life is great when you are livin a dream", let's help Les and Walt back to the road to recovery so we can all share this dream of life and happiness together.

peace and love

Les &n Walt:

No words to convey how lousy this whole mess is, but know you will both be in our thoughts.  Take care and stay strong.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for the update on Les, Myman. I am so saddened to hear this news on Les just this past week he reached out to help me with the names of back surgeons for Rick. Both Les and Walt and all of our friends here will once again be in my prayers. I hate cancer in general but lung and prostate cancer have been so brutal in our family I think I hate these 2 the most.

My Very Best Wishes to All

Thank you so much, Susan. No words here can express that inner pain and sadness that rises with the news. A new fight begins with another round of finding strong emotions and physical fortitude to deal with it. No matter where any of us are in these travels, we are indeed in it together.

Susan

Words are so hard to find to express what we feel.  We will continue our prayers and wish that something comes Les's way that helps.

I have only just joined this forum after hearing myself I have PC. I so far have had encouraging news about my own condition but posts like this remind me how things can change so quickly and what seems so unfairly.

Although I dont know of Les and Walt but I do know the importance of the bonds on a forum such as this can give strength and encouragement for everyone fighting the condition.

I will have you both in my thoughts for your future

Keep strong

You are both in my prayers and my thoughts. I will say extra prayers for both of you. Stay strong and never give up the fight. Lifeline

Les, I'm sorry the communication in your case was handled so poorly.  I know you are strong and will choose the best treatment.  Please know that we are right along side you in this battle.
