B’s W:

I suspect everybody’s tummy is different, but I can tell you what seemed to work for me. After four or five weeks veggies and fruit didn’t work at all! This was a drag as I’m a big fruit and veggie fan.

At the time I was into baking rustic style breads (still do), bouls and the like. I ate a lot of bread with a little olive oil and salt and some simple grilled lean meats. Fat bothered me also. A lot of chicken breasts (no skin), pork tenderloin and fish. Also simple pastas with just a bit of olive oil and a bit of grated hard cheese seemed pleasing at the time.

I’m sure it wasn’t the most healthy of diets, but it worked for me and it only went on for a few weeks. A little wine didn’t seem to hurt either, in fact, I’m sure it helped! But maybe you should ask the rad onc about the wine. I just assumed it would be O.K.!

I can echo Merkelman's suggestions as I ate pretty much the same items and it seemed to work well for me most of the time. The good news is after this week you will only have 3 weeks to go.

Bob's Wife-
My mom tried to stick to the Mediterranian diet for my dad. Once he started getting diarrhea from the radiation, she incorporated more of the BRAT diet. My dad was not able to tolerate certain foods very well during the radiation. He experienced more heartburn, so obviously, my mom made fewer foods with spices. They did have a lot of chicken, which he tolerated well. Good luck and glad to hear that you guys are over half way done!!
