Lemon..... You will have all kinds of weird feeling down there. The nerves are trying to heal. I would talk to your doc and just try to be easy. How bout some stats on your profile. Age, psa, treatment, ...just so we know.

If you are semi hard at this stage, you are well on your way to sexual healing.
My first post op orgasm was at 2 weeks, and regularly after that. At four weeks
you should be good to go as long as there are no other problems.
Age 59, psa 4.7 in Jan. 08. Biopsy: one positive sample out of 13. 1% of one sample cancer. Prostate removed on 3/5/08. Open Surgery. Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville Ga. Nerves spared. Cath out 12 days later. Continence good. No pads needed since 6/10/08. First PSA: Less than 0.1 on 6/17/08. First erection five days post op and have been improving well since then. Full erection now possible (less than four months post op) with the assistance of Cialis. I am pleased with the progress so far. Married to same wonderful woman for 39 years.
She is still beautiful and sexy as ever. A great help in my recovery !!

I had my first morning erection with the catheter in.  Hard to believe but true.  After the cath was removed I would have erection every morning like clock work.  Boy I was very encouraged,  then things slowed down after a couple of weeks.  Now at 20 weeks I am just O.K. with out Viagra, better with Viagra and a constriction ring.  Orgasms are sometimes nothing and others great.

My Doc said that this is becoming more and more common with nerve sparring DaVinci method.  They dont have a name for it but its there is mounting (sorry) evidence that this is a rising (sorry) developement for which they are looking at.  Hard (sorry) to find any statistics at this time.

Piano,  I hope not offend or make to light of this but for me if I get too serious about this I will surely become depressed.  I need to stay up (oops) and not let it get me down (sorry).  Oh you know what I mean.

All the best.

Frank,
I fully understand what you mean. I hate the thought that it's been over a year now! Because of the Lupron I am simply not up for it...er, in the mood for it...Seriously it is a depressing thought. But I just try not to think about it.  I always said without my Ruthie I was half a man ~ but I may be giving myself too much credit.

Very well said Tony. You are certainly one of my heros on this site. You are a brave, compassionate and considerate man. How in world did so many like you find this site. How lucky we all are.

Lemonlime,
i found that nurses (read:women) will tell you to wait 4-6 weeks. My doc, told me if I felt like it to have fun. he said nothing was gonna get hurt from giving it a few whacks. Now, sex and strenuous positions are probably not a great idea, but a JO just to see how things are going will be fine. You can hurt nothing by an erection and a dry ejaculation. I did it first just a few days after the cath came out when i sensed a few stirrings in the region. it never got close to hard, but that first orgasm was an interesting experience. It did not hurt exactly, but sort of...and felt weird. But not bad enough to stop me from trying regularly since then. Go ahead, live a little.

Frank,
your condiion mirrors mine quite well. Thanks for telling about it. I have since found that it happens in a small, but growing number of men. At eight weeks i was like a teenager again. Then it disappeared fairly rapidly and has been much more in line with typical, slow progress since. Please keep us posted if you hear of anything or any studies done on this.
you're right about the day to day changes. Apparently this is common as well...and even PCa patients are loathe to admit that they were studs one day and duds the next. As one guy told me, "There is no rhyme or reason, so don't even try to figure it out. Enjoy it when it works and have a back up plan when it doesn't!" it's all fun and good. i am now just about 8 months out and things are definitely improving. But this friend warned me that it still waxes and wanes for him after a couple years. He figures long term, he is good about 60% of the time. Hmmm, not great, but i'll take it gratefully!
