My hubby had rp today and ran into complications in that the prostate was deformed somehow and most of the nerve bundles on the left and right side were removed.  My question is do drugs i.e. viagra etc. and vacum pumps / injections work under those conditions?

Hi Mrs C
They may or may not. Unfortunately, your only way of knowing will be the test of time. But first, take it easy, and we will be hopeful that he recovers well, receives a good post-operative pathology report, and and regains full functionality. Sorry to welcome you here. But glad to have you along.

Peace,

Tony

I had no nerves spared and I can tell you it's not so bad. smilewinkgrin

I have not tried Viagra and the like -- my understanding is that they don't work when nerves are not present. This doesn't rule them out later, when (if!) there is evidence that some nerve function has returned.

I find vacuum pump and injections do work well -- but both need practice and persistence to find a technique that works reliably. If hubby was getting good erections before surgery, I think the chances are good that one or both of those will work for him too.
