Time for an update. I have a CT lung scan coming up on 6/3 and a PSA test in July. Looking for nothing in the scan and zero on the PSA test.

I hit a real low spot last month and stayed there till a couple of days ago. I hate depression, not only because it is very dangerous and makes everyone around me miserable, but also because it sneaks up on me. I hate to admit I have it and let it go far too long before taking action.

This time it was low T again. I've been giving myself shots in the side of the thigh for the past couple of months and noticed that my legs would get sore for a few days after the shot. So I had MaryLu give me a shot in the butt which is where she always gave them to me in the past. Inside of two days I was back. I think the shots weren't absorbing right when I gave them to myself.

Now I know this is off topic and the reason I post it is that, once again, I failed to listen to my body until it got too painful. My good friends Bluebird and Swim keep telling me, "Jim listen to your body." But I don't listen very well.

During the past 2 1/2 since my PCa dx I have had to change my outlook and reaction to lots of life's challenges and I would never have made it without the help, encouragement and occasional kick in the pants from you here on HW.

Thank you my good friends...

Jim

Hi Jim,
Oh what I would give to borrow your injections...You have a couple big days coming, but I know you will do just fine. Make sure ML sticks ya good...LOL. I get your butt away from depression. I have a suggestion, get a shot, fire up that bike and enjoy the Spring while it's still here. When you get back we'll be here to cheer you on. I love ya brother!

Peace!

Jim,
I'm so sorry to hear that the T-bomb depression hit you again. You and I are really something! The past couple of months I've also been bottoming out with depression. I had a hernia surgery in Feb and then a cervical fusion in March which is still giving me problems. I've been posting on the cronic pain forum here at Healing Well as there are so many others who deal with pain everyday of their lives. A couple of weeks ago, I posted here on the PC forum when I thought I was posting on CP. The title of my thread was "Can't stop crying." When I realized what I had done, I went back in and erased everything I wrote except the title! I couldn't figure out how to get rid of it. Then people started posting on it, some I knew from the old days and some new members asking what was wrong. Feeling really stupid and bad that I left it open, I went back and explained what I had what I had been through, that I was having trouble in my 28 year marrage, was constantly crying and was seriously depressed. Then came our old pal Bill to the rescue! Jetguy wrote over a couple times asking me to call him which I didn't right away being so down and ashamed of myself. He finally called me and calmed me down. Just knowing how much he cared really touched me and helped so much! I've been getting better but as you know, it ain't easy! Lisa and I are in councelling and doing much better. Depression sucks!!! If there's anything I can do, please let me know! I'll be watching your posts. Hang in there dear friend!

Hey Pete old buddy,

I'm so glad Bill (jetguy) gave you a call. He's got it together and sharing our tough times as well as the good times is part of the path out of the deep, dark pit. I talk to MaryLu and that helps a lot but talking to men with the same problem is special tonic.

I go through the phase where I'm ashamed of myself for being down, like you said. For me that comes just after I come out of complete denial that anything is wrong. As you know, talking to Swim helps too. Her swift kick in the butt always gets me headed in the right direction.

Getting the shots straightened out helped most of all this time. A couple of days after MaryLu shot me in the butt, things started to get better. Amazing what a little T can do. To bad we always have to learn the hard way.

There is hope my good friend!!! Never give up!!!

I pray for you and Lisa every night...

HE's back!!! I was hoping you were celebrating over these past couple months and am sad to hear that your T levels were affecting you. I hope you are back to your normal self and will continue to be thinking of you over these next months. We are all so lucky to have you as a part of the HW family.
I hope you got your bike out this weekend!! We went for a ride over to the Oregon coast and my dad rode his bike. It was beautiful and I was so happy to see him doing what he loves. Wishing you many beautiful days doing what you love! Keep in touch friend!

Thanks Chayna for the nice note.

Yeah the T is back under control. Its a balancing act to keep the testosterone at acceptable levels and to not overdo it and encourage any remaining cancer cells. Diligent doctors and modern testing methods make it possible but I have to do my part too.

The bike has been on the road!!! Short rides so far but am planning to go to Yakima next week after my scans and blood tests. (Planning for another "in remission" celebration. Is that dangerous?) I'm building my endurance up from the 2 year layoff from riding. We've been up and down the Oregon coast many times in the past and there just isn't a more beautiful and fun ride than that. I'm so glad that you and your dad got to enjoy it.

Hugs to you and yours...

Hey Gang,

I'm a zero and am on annual testing!!!! Waaa Hooo!!!

Three years of zeros are behind me and I'm happier now than ever before that I chose an aggressive treatment option. This puts me on the same testing schedule that I was on before PCa so I feel like its a thing of the past.

You all have been my support structure for these three years. I couldn't have made it without this forum as a place for information and encouragement. Thanks to all of you...

Hi Jim,

I'm so happy to read of the outcome of your last tests. Congratulations. Perhaps that is part of your reward for always being there for any of us with your wisdom, advise encouragements. Or just clean living :-) .

May you have years of zeros and remissions.

All the best to you.

Your friend,

Magaboo

Jim,

It's great to read another zero report from you.  We both had our RRP the same year.  All the best for a negative lung scan.  Take care....Tim

I'm back with more good news. Lung scans, liver and kidney tests are all clean. This puts the cap on last months PSA < .04 result. Still in remission all around and no more test for another year.

Its a hap-hap-happy day!!!!
