Hi folks,

Tomorrow i am having my consultation with my uro. Does anyone here have any experience with Dr. Russell Tackett out of Research Hospital in K.C.Mo? Please advise me on how you felt you were treated and if you think he took you through all the options of treatment. If so, which did you decide on? I know everyone is different, but would appreciate some feedback.

Thanks, Ralph

  Thanks KW,

Had consultation w/ the uro today, and boy, the hits just keep on comin'!

He's a little bit old school in that I think most of his surgery experience came in the 80's and 90's, so naturally, i'm getting a second opinion on treatment.  Both bone scan and pelvic ct proved clear with 4 of 12 core samples showing PCa on left side only, with pre-cancerous cells throughout.  He was very thorough with explanations of treatment, and suggested surgery.  The only problem was that he does not do Da Vinci due to lack of experience and said he would do only retro-pubic or perineal.  He does laproscopic but because I had a laperotomy ( gut surgery due to a botched colonoscopy in 1996 )that I would not be a candidate for that due to scar tissue, etc.

My research on that shows that I think that's the way I want to go,DaVinci that is.  I've found some younger doctors in the area with several of these procedures under their belts and have set up appointments to see if I'm a candidate for it.

One question that my wife and I both have is if We opt for surgery we understand that the seminal vesicles are taken.  We know that ed is alleviated through drug therapy (cialis, viagra, etc.)  But is there still any ejaculate with sex?  (hate to work all day for nothing).

I haven't seen an answer to this in my research.

Psa at time of testing was14.5.  Gleason score of 7.  Would appreciate any insight.

Thanks for responding.  It's nice to hear from someone else who has been there.

Hope you are a Big 12 fan.I'm Thinking of having the surgery done at Univ. Of Kansas Med. Center.

We hope your ED and incontinance issues will resolve themselfs or be treatable with other options.
But be aware! it is possible you could loose your erectile abilities or continance.
On the Ejaculate part.....YES...you will be shooting blanks!!!! But.... From my experience it is not a bad thing!!!! For one, at least for me the orgasams seem to be longer and stronger. The other....there is no messy clean up!
Gotta look on the bright side of these things!
Good Luck,
KW
