For those of you who have been following our journey - JustJulie's Brachytherapy Journey - we received great news this afternoon.  My husband's PSA score has come back at .....
Whooo hoooo.  My apologies for not posting more frequently but the last PSA bounce to 1.8 was a little overwhelming to us and we just needed some time (as most of you will totally understand).
I am so happy right now I could cry - happy tears this time.  Thanks to all of you for your unwavering support - I don't think I could have made it this far without you.

Pre-op PSA was 19.8
Surgery on Feb 16, 2007 @ The City of Hope
Post-Op Pathology: Gleason 4+3=7, positive margins, Extra Prostatic Extension (EPE)
Bilateral seminal vesicle invasion (SVI); Stage pT3b, N0, Mx
HT began in May, '07 with Lupron and Casodex 50mg (2 Year ADT)
IMRT radiation for 38 Treatments ending August 3, '07
Current PSA (September 17 '08): <0.1 ~ Undetectable!

Thanks Tony - we'll definitely be celebrating tonight!  I can't find my original posting - these boards move so fast - or I'd post it there too.  This new posting will just have to do, I couldn't go without posting to thank those who have supported me so well along this journey.

Congrats Julie,

On the downward trend and on your patience while waiting for the result. Here's hoping your joy at the result will erase the fear of waiting for it. Cancer tries to rob us physically, mentally and emotionally but our weapons are stronger. Patience and attitude always win.

Age 74. Diagnosed 11/03/06. PSA 7.05. Stage T2C Gleason 3+3.
RRP 12/7/06. Nerves and nodes okay.
Catheter out on 12/13/06.  Dry on 12/14/06.
Pathological stage: T2C N0 MX. Gleason 3+4.
50 mg Viagra + 1000 mg L-Arginine + .03 cc Trimix = Excellent Results
PSAs from  1/3/07 - 7/17/08 0.00. 
Next PSA test on 1/28/09
Lung cancer dxed on 5/16/08.  Surgery on 6/25/08  T1N1M0 - Stage IIA  Finished 4 cycles of chemo on 11/7/08.
First CT scan on 12/2/08.

Fantastic news Julie, I understand what you mean about the happy tears, we have all had enough of the other ones. It is such a relief to get good lab reports, each time I am nervous, but that is getting easier. Good Luck on future PSA's.

Incontinence resolved 9/15/2007, one day after cath removal
ED showing significant improvement.
Occasional Success with Oral Meds

Dear Julie,

I am very pleased at your results (husband's I mean).  You have been very important here for a long time and this is a nice reward.  Tears of joy, indeed!



August of 2006, PSA up to 4.2 from 2.7 one year ago. 
October free and total PSA 12% free and 5.0 total.
A month, or so later, 4.7.
Late in the year decide on Image Guided IMRT.
Begin 43 treatments on January 23, 2007 and finish on March 23.

Thanks everyone, we took the opportunity to celebrate with a night out for dinner - the added bonus, both of our boys (both teenagers) celebrated with us - whooo hoooo.

Aged 59 when diagnosed
Biopsy 6/07
4 of 10 cores positive for Adenocarcinoma-------bummer!
Core 1 <5%, core 2----50%, core 3----60%, core 4----50%
Biopsy Pathologist's comment:
Gleason 4+3=7 (80% grade 4) Stage T2c
Neither extracapsular nor perineural invasion is identified
CT scan and Bone scan show no evidence of metastases
Da Vinci RP Aug 10th 2007
Post-op pathology:
Positive for perineural invasion and 1 small focal extension
Negative at surgical margins, negative node and negative vesicle involvement
Some 4+4=8 identified ........upgraded to Gleason 8
PSA Oct 07 <0.1 undetectable
PSA Jan 08 <0.1 undetectable
PSA April 08 <0.001 undetectable (disregarded due to lab "misreporting")
PSA August 08 <0.001 undetectable (disregarded due to lab "misreporting")
Post-op pathology rechecked by new lab:
Gleason downgraded to 4+3=7
Focal extension comprised of grade 3 cells
PSA September 08 <0.01 (new lab)
