Professor Tony Costello has an excellent reputation ( being the first robotic surgeon in Australia) and the Epworth Centre is renowned for the treatment of prostate cancer and its research. A little exaggeration with the mortality figures though...........US 22.8 per 100,000 / Aust 27.3 per 100,000 (crude figures). However a few porkies are permissible if they result in extra dollars from the treasury coffers being made available for dedicated research. What is interesting is that while looking at the international mortality numbers I see the developed world average is 22.4 per 100,000 males while the undeveloped world average is 3.6 per 100,000.

Hey Tony,

That's all good eh! CJ laughed at your spelling (the fact you got it right for a change!!). Thanks for the link. I am sending it to my (new) boss as this year my (largely female) workforce is for the 2nd year in a row, donating money to a female cancer cause. While it has my full support of course,  I was mentally agonising about how to raise the issue of prostate cancer with her as an alternative cause to donate to in future, and make sure that for future Christmas donations, prostate cancer cenTERS are on top of any donation lists (top priority) at our work. As some people here constantly point out, some people think that prostate cancer is not a women's concern, but I tend to differ in my opinion, as do many other women here.  So thanks Tony - I will just send my boss this link with a suggestion, and some statistics which might get some more money donated to some prostate cancer research in 2009. Thanks again. Lana

Hi Tony (TC) and Kris,
Thanks for your greetings. Yes, winding down to a great summer of watching the cricket Kris - a great time of the year here. Hey Tony keep warm up there, won't you?! My CJ has just had another repeat PSA taken to check on the last lab reporting of 0.03 specifically,  but we haven't even bothered to collect the results yet, which is sort of a measure of the reassurance given here recently, so would be happy with .03 again, and will collect tomorrow. I think CJ has now made a full recovery and we are looking to the future with great hope! I'll send you both our new email address in the new year (when we have it).
Love, Lana & CJ. tongue
