Been 3 weeks to the day since my surgery.  Last 3 days have been rough and painful.  Yesterday, despite being on a med to help, the bladder spasms intensified in quantiy and pain level.  Had about 8 - 10 yesterday, each one increasing in length and intensity.  The last few had me in real tears and screaming, here alone at the house.  I finally called my wife and asked her to come home early to help me.  She did, she got a hold of the doctor on call, and he increased the med slightly, and told me to stay off my feet completely for the next few days.  He said when you stand, the ballon in the catheter pushes down on the incision and causes the bladder to contract.
He said to expect this to continue until they remove the catheter on December 5th.  Not much to look forward to at this point.

Today is Dec 5th?? If you'll have the cath in much longer - get the doc to reduce the fluid in the ballon. I had my cath in for five weeks. Doc redced the fluid from 15ml to ten...It made a ton of difference. Cause a little more leaking which was well worth it considering the reduction in pressure. I was able to sit in my desk chair all day with ease...

Wow...David...I can't even imagine what you are going through. Hopefully the suggestion Steve gave will be an answer for you. Hang in there buddy...it's just a journey that began and will hopefully continue with less pain from here on in.

Sorry, meant December 15th, not 5th. Still have 10 days to go. Never thought about reducing the volume in the balloon, will keep that in mind if it gets worse before then. Thanks
