Good for you GB.  Glad that your PSA is zero and the ED has improved.  I have followed the same route with Viagra and the VED, also a weekly shot.  I am about 11 months out and I can achieve a 75% erection with the meds.  Always like to hear a success story in the making.

Age 65
Diagnosed 10/12/07
PSA 6.3
Biopsy 18 core samples, 2 positive <5%
Stage T1a Gleason 6 (3+3)
LRP  1/29/08
Post-op
Gleason 7 (3+4)
1 positive margin (.3cm)
T2C
5/15/08- 1st Post-Op PSA 0.07 Undetectable
8/11/08 -2nd Post-OP PSA 0.02 Undetectable
8/15/08- No more pads as of today  Whoopee!!!
11/13/08- 3rd post-op PSA 0.02 Undetectable

New to forum. 6wks post RRP, one nerve spared. What's the 'average' ED recovery curve. Most of messages I've read on the board indicate that this can continue to improve over a long period of time (e.g. up to 2 years or so)? If so, what a relief and ray of hope! I get some response with stimulation, some response with Viagra, but 1+1 does not yet = 2 (i.e. something 'usable'). So any info or discussion on typical improvement timelines would be welcome. Does bladder control during orgasm also improve?

Hi GB,

Great news - good luck with your next PSA result. My husband continues to mimic your good recovery too after 18 months (especially with his right woman!). Happy Christmas to you and yours. turn

Typically it can be up to two years before recovery of natural function -- maybe longer. It seems to be a gradual and somewhat "lumpy" recovery too. Some response to stimulation and Viagra at 6 weeks are good signs.
Don't overlook injections -- they can be effective, giving very natural erections in an unnatural kind of way!
I had only very minor leaks during orgasm at first, but that stage seems to have passed. Try pulling a big Kegel at the moment of orgasm -- that worked for me.

Age 63. Other than cancer, in good health; BMI 20
Pre-op: No symptoms; PSA 5.7; Gleason 4+5=9; cancer in 4 of 12 cores
7 March 2008, RRP, non nerve sparing
Two nights in hospital; catheter and staples out after 7 days
Continent, no pads needed from the get-go
Post Op: Stage pT2 M- N-; clear margins and lymph nodes; Gleason 4+4=8; prostate weight: 37gm
6-week and 7-month PSAs: 0
Bimix injections working well

I'am worried about tomorrows doc app. Lupron stopped working now trying Zoladex. 2nd shot due tommorrow. Worried about what the PSA will be I'am in the T4 stage
Found out Jan. 07
g\6
psa 116
Started Lupron to shrink it before surgery, did not work.
My appendix had to come out.
Radical prostentechomy Sept. 5.
Couldn't get it all, it was outside the sack and into lower lymph nodes.
Cathader removed about 3 months.
Incontinont for about 3 months
Peranial rectal absesses w/ drains for about 4 months <MRSA>
Continued Lupron until Oct. 08 <psa.04 to .06>.
Started losing weight. <194 to 170>
Now trying Zoladex, next shot in Dec. 18, then we will see what the PSA is, before deciding on future treatments.
Side effects:
Lupron=memory, tired all the time, joints and muscle aches, hot flashes.
Zoladex=memory, tired after doing something, left back rib cage is tender when inhaling, right elbow aches, all joints and muscles below the waist ache, the worst is the left hip.
