I'd be willing to go and perhaps hear some lectures, shown some films, talk to some drug reps, listen to a few doctors and meet so many of the good people on this site.  I have no organizatonal skills (you ought to see my basement) so if there is someone out there who can pull this off, chime in.  A few days away with some golf or organized activities would do us a whole lot of good.  Leakers are invited. Winter stinks in my part of the country and I long for calm, warm breezes.  I'm even willing to cut the grass or run a weed-eater.  Any thoughts?

about the first of Sept each year the Prostate Cancer Research Institute has a convention. I went this past September in Los Angeles. It was very good. Some of the leading docs spoke. Some nutrionalists spoke. Drug reps had a trade show. You could interact with other guys. USTOO had support group meetings. There were over 800 people there.

You can learn more about it at their website. Just Google their name for links. They have links to past programs and links to lectures that were given. I found out about it because my doc was one of the speakers.

I am sure there are more like it out there. Other guys will probably know of more.

It definitely gave me a whole new positive outlook knowing there are many options and ways to get help.

And yup! We all had to hurry off to the restroom a lot! I was still wearing pads then so leakers were ok!  tongue

Don't get discouraged!!

HI Bob

For the lastcouple of years the geat people at Duke University Medical Center haveut a conference for professionals, doctors nurses etc and for lay people, patients, wives, family members. They have the leading experts in the field of prostate cancer talking about this disease, trends, treatments. I went this year and found it very informative and met a lot of great people both patients and doctors. I don't think they have a date for 2009. But they have been in the fall for the last couple of years. Go to the Duke Medical Center web site and check on it next year. It has been organized by Dr. Judd Moul, my doctor, and he could tell you if they are planning one for 2009. Hope this helps.

Hi Bob,

There are many different medical summits and conventions.  They can be a bit cumbersome if you haven't learned some of the medical jargon.  For local gatherings with prostate cancer patients I recommend and US Too chapter near you (www.ustoo.org).  I would recommend also supporting local efforts for prostate cancer awareness.  A convention for us all to meet would be nice.  But we don't really have one as patients.  My next convention for PCa is the American Urologists Association (AUA) summit in Chicago in May.  Something else may pop up but the AUA is next.  Below I posted the link that links you to the best set of presentations I have seen to date.
